John was very helpful in the purchase of our new home. He was able to get the closing date we wanted, and items fixed that we needed. He has great local knowledge and always kind and helpful. A pleasure to work with.

I did not purchase an in town home, but property in the country. John went above and beyond to show me as many properties in my criteria. Despite me being a knowledgeable home buyer John still taught me a few new ways to look at buying a home. When it came time to start making offers John kept me involved and up to date every step of the way, I was never in the dark. I would highly recommend John for buying or selling your next home.

As a first time home buyer, I was unsure about what the process was, what kind of information I would need to have ready, how to coordinate with mortgage brokers, etc. John was with me every step of the way, explaining in detail everything that was being asked of me and letting me know exactly what I needed to do in order to make the process go smoothly. He also kept my mind at ease while I was waiting for the final review of my mortgage application to go through and even took the initiative to speak with the mortgage company to make sure my application was being taken care of properly. I would definitely recommend John to anyone looking to buy a home because he is knowledgeable, organized, and makes sure to keep everyone at ease and on the same page.

John Mick is the best Realtor we could have found, for eight reasons.

1 - He knows what he's doing, and he's been doing it for a really long time. When choosing the random "friend of my brother's" or "guy I used to work with" that most people choose when looking for a Realtor, they put themselves at the risk of losing an opportunity to find the right house because their Realtor is ignorant of all the pockets of awesome neighborhoods in Austin. They may lose the opportunity to plug into a network of mature Realtors who John can turn to when he's looking for deals that are coming on the market. He sold 153 homes in 2013. The average Austin Realtor sold 5 homes. He's doing something right, y'all.

2 - He's sharp. Dude knows his way around the bargaining table, and when he gives you an estimate on your property, you can trust that he knows what he's doing. We were considering a property, and he did some research on the Realtor to find out how long he'd been in the biz, and that helped tailor his negotiation strategy.

3 - He's accessible. He returns calls, every time, and he will talk into the night with you. (My first convo with him happened when I called at 9 pm to leave a message).

4 - He's honest. You looking for that cheap, amazing, centrally-located home in a safe neighborhood? If it doesn't exist, and he'll tell you. But then he'll show you the six neighborhoods in the metro area that can get you what you're looking for, and he'll send you dozens of links to the properties that may interest you. Tell him what you want, not just where you want it, and he'll find the right property.

5 - He knows the metro area inside and out. He's lives central, south, north, in the burbs. He's made a home in these areas at a time in his life, so he really, really understands the benefits and challenges with different parts of the city. He's not just a "South Austin" Realtor. He's an All-Austin Realtor.

6 - He's okay with you if you're "just looking." If you're just looking to see what's out there, totally cool. If you're not ready to buy, that's cool too. He's not out for the short-term sale. He's a relationship Realtor.

7 - He's also a seasoned real-estate investor. He can direct you to properties that have the highest potential revenue and the lowest possible cost. He'll talk about condos vs. sing-family vs. multi-family, and he'll chat about the best areas with the best schools, at the most affordable prices. He himself owns rental property, and he can direct you to the right location for your precious investment.

8 - He's someone you can trust to take care of your friends and family. I've referred three families to him. Two have bought with him, and one is looking currently. We ourselves won't use another Realtor.

Whether selling, buying a home or buying investment property, John Mick is my guy, and he should totally be your's, too.

I have worked with John over my 16 years in Austin. Many years ago, he was willing to spend an entire day with me looking at apartments. He picked me up and dropped me off at the airport and drove me around all day for what could not have been much of a financial return. A year later, when we were ready to buy our first home, we called John who patiently took us through the process of building a home. 10 years later, we still remembered John when it was time to upgrade our home and he worked hard to help us navigate through some pitfalls when our initial offer fell through that we ran into and ultimately found us the perfect home for our family. We have kept in touch over the entire time I've lived in Austin and John has always been willing to answer questions and go the extra mile for us. John is always courteous and happy to work with us. He did all of the work on each of our transactions to make the process as smooth as possible. We relied heavily on his advice which we found to be sound. When it is time for us to find a new home in the Austin area, I will go to John first.
